Application

This is my frist time. Can I apply for the summit course?
You must have the following qualifications:
● Summit course applicants must have completed full marathon (42.195 km) within 5 hours.
AND/OR
● Summit course applicants must have completed trail race over 20 km distance within the time limit.
  ** Due to the difficulty of the race, your application will be closely reviewed by the local track and field association. You may be denied participation based on previous race times or lack of substantial experience even if you meet the criteria. (This is determined on a case-by- case basis.)
How can I apply for the race?
You apply from the Entry page on the official website or search on Runnet Global website.
  ** You must read and confirm the terms and conditions prior to application process.
When does the application period start? How much does it cost?
Application period: End of March annually.
Registration fee:
● Summit course 15,000 JPY + service charge
● 5th station course 10,000 JPY + service charge
  ** Summit course applicants would be denied participation and their registration fee would be returned (the service fee is on them) if they do not meet the criteria.
What happens if the the maximum number of applicants is met?
Application system is a first-come-first-served basis and will be closed when the maximum number of applicants is met.
Can I get refunds after registration when I cancel the participation?
No. There will be no refunds after registration.
How can I get the race official brochure?
We do not make any brochures. Please refer to the official website regarding the race.
How many people can run?
General Applicants:
● Summit 2,500  ● 5th Station 1,276  ● Total 3,776
Participant Categories:
① Fujiyoshida City Citizen – 50
② Fujiyoshida City Origin – 20
③ Organization Recommended – 20
④ International Participant – 50
⑤ Athlete ** Fuji Mountain Race placers over the past 3 years. 1st place winners of either course over the past 5 years will be treated as invitational participants.
⑥ Furusato Nozei – 100 ** ”Furusato nozei” is a tax deduction given to tax payers who donate to local municipalities in exchange for goods and/or services. Participation in this year’s race has been offered as a gift in exchange for a donation.
Can I apply as a group?
Yes. Pease select “Group entry.” when you apply.
  ** Please double check information of your members or courses.
Will you send me a confirmation letter/email when I complete my application?
No. You will only receive notice after your application has been reviewed at the end of May. Your integrity during the application process is very much appreciated.
Can I get refunds/change a course after registration?
Refunds/course change will not be acceptable after registration.
What is “Your organization” on the application?
“Sponsor.” The blank does not necessary to fill in.
Will you send me my racer packet including my bib numbers?
No. You must register and get the packet on the day before the race.
How can I confirm my application status? It says they cannot confirm my payment even though I already did.
You can confirm from “My Page.” It takes few days to reflect in your payment status.

Registration

Can I register on the race day?
No. You will need “Run Passport” for registration. Please prepare your electronic device/copy of your QR code.
Can my friend register intead of me?
We ask you to come the person himself.
Will you have parking lots on the registration day?
Yes. Parking permits will be issued only when you select “Vehicle” option for applicaition.
Please park your car designated parking lots, and take a shuttle bus running between the parking and the venue.
Will you have the waitlist?
No.

Race

How will we line up at the start?
It will be in order of bib numbers.
Will there be water stations?
Yes. Please refer to Course page for details.
Can I place my personal drinks at water stations?
No.
Are there toilets along the course?
Yes. They will be at parkings, the starting point, and mountain huts (not free). Please prepare some \100 coins to use them at huts.
Will you set up timing displays and/or dintance marks along the course?
No.
How will I record my times and results?
“RS tags” these chips will be used to record your times and results. These includes in your racer packet.
Can I have my finisher certificate on the race day?
No. Your race result and/or finisher certificate will only be issued on the website.
Will you have time limits?
Yes. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions page for details.
What happens if I cannot finish within the time limits?
When you cannot finish within the timelimits or cannot reach each checkpoints within the time limits, you must finish and descend the mountain.
What should I do when I do not feel well during the race?
If you get injured or illness during the race, you move to safer places and ask for help to staffs and/or volunteers. You must stop running and follow their instructions.
Medical runners, who run as emergency medical technicians, have authorities to force racers to forfeit the race. Racers must obey their orders.
  ** They are allowed giving medications to patients at a first-aid under the responsibilitythe of the race organization.
Example of symptoms that you may deny continuing the race:
① Person in shock
② Unconscious
③ Dehydration
④ Low blood sugar
⑤ Others
If you have any concerns with your physical conditions, we highly recommend to take a medical check at race expo area before the race.
Will you have pacemakers?
No.
I need an accompany to run. Can I apply?
No.

Access and Accommodation

Can you tell me how I can get to the venue?
Please refer to the Access page for details or the race day information that we will send you an Email in the beginning of July.
For persons who will drive to the venue:
Parking permits will be issued only when you select “Vehicle” option for applicaition. Please park your car designated parking lots, and take a shuttle bus running between the parking and the venue.
Vehicles will be towed if you exceed the allotted parking time after the race. Parking laws are strictly enforced. There will be penalties for those parking illegally on the streets or in non-race designated parking lots.

Will you find and book me an accommodation?
No.

Race Day and Pre-Registration Day

Will you have a changing room?
Changing rooms will be at the venues before and after the race.
Can I have drop bags?
Yes. The racer packet includes drop bags which will be carried to the 5th station and the closing ceremony venue.
● Small green bag: To the 5th Station for you to access immediately after finishing (e.g. small towel, jacket, cell phone)
● Large clear bag: To closing ceremony venue for you to access once you have descended (e.g. luggage, change of clothes)
You must secure your own valuables, as the race organization will not be held responsible for any missing valuables.
What should I wear for the race?
This race takes place at a high altitude with steep inclines. Racers must have the appropriate gear for such conditions (suitable for rainy, windy and cold conditions.)
What is the temperature like on the race day?
For the race 2018, 6:00 AM, the temperature was 3.2 ℃ at the summit and 18.6 ℃ at Kawaguchiko. The humidity was 42 % at the summit and 89 % at Kawaguchiko.
Will there be food stalls at the venue?
Yes. There will be food stalls on the day of the race and the day before the dace at Fujiyoshida Shiminkaikan, where the registration and the closing ceremony will be held.
What can finishers get?
●Summit course participants: T-shirt (Finishers only) – Ship to address provided in application.
●5th station course participants: T-shirt (all 5th Station course participants) – Available at the race expo area
What is the purpose of pre-registration?
Every year, racers often get altitude sickness and forefeit the race due to the altitude difference, even though you are careful about your health. In order to asjust your body to high altitude and your performance on the racce day, we would ask you to stay at Fujiyoshida City where sits on the foot of Mt. Fuji, and its elevation is 700 meter.
